The Fritz Behrens (later SRB Arthur Menge ) was a sea rescue boat (SRB) of the 9-meter class of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS).
The Fritz Behrens with the DGzRS internal designation KRST 24, was built in 1977 by the Schweers shipyard in Bardenfleth under construction number 6432 and christened on July 30, 1977 together with two sister boats in Bardenfleth. The name referred to Friedrich Eduard Behrens , the founder of the Fritz Behrens Foundation , which played a key role in financing the construction of the boat.
On January 23, 1981, the boat was renamed to Arthur Menge , the name of a former Lord Mayor of Hanover, who had rendered outstanding services to the Fritz Behrens Foundation in the 1940s. The reason for the name change was the commissioning of the rescue cruiser Fritz Behrens ; Assigning names twice should be avoided.
Technical Equipment
The lifeboat was equipped with radio systems, echo sounder, radar , GPS , external bilge pump and a rescue port.
Stationings
From 1977 to September 4, 1999, the boat was stationed in Langballigau and then moved to Schleswig . The decommissioning took place on November 14, 2006. Like the sister ship Hörnum , this unit will also be shipped to Montevideo and made available to the local sea rescue service "Asociación Honoraria de Salvamentos Marítimos y Fluviales" ( ADES ). There the boat was put into service from spring 2007 under the name ADES 18 Hamburg Sud at the Puerto del Buceo location .
