Fritz Dieter (born August 31, 1931 in Burg ; † May 29, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German architect who was involved in the planning of the East Berlin television tower from 1964 to 1969 and who claimed authorship for the entire structure, which had been the case for decades is controversial because other architects also claim authorship. He later played a key role in the planning and expansion of Berlin-Schönefeld Airport .

Life

After graduating from high school and an apprenticeship as a bricklayer , Dieter studied architecture from 1950 to 1955 at the University of Architecture and Building (HAB) in Weimar . After successfully completing his studies, he became an employee of industrial project planning in Berlin I in 1956 and was responsible for the planning of the Strausberg dairy (1959–1963), the Berlin dairy farm (1961/62) and, from 1964 to 1969, the tower head area of the television tower in East Berlin . Dieter and Günter Franke are considered to be the leading architects of the Berlin television tower, the authorship of which is still controversial today, as the architect Hermann Henselmann also claimed the architectural design. What is certain, however, is that the actual construction planning took place in VEB Industrieprojektierung (Ipro) . The three main architects here were Dieter, Günter Franke and Werner Ahrend .

In 1969, Dieter became the founder and department head of the East Construction Planning Office in Frankfurt (Oder) . From 1970 he supervised diploma theses at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1971 he became chief architect of a part of the operation at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. 1980 Dieter was a lecturer at the operational Academy Schwedt , 1985, he was with the work "design principles and technical-scientific solution principles for the further development of the metal floor building in the GDR" at the HAB Weimar doctorate and was then from 1987 to 1990 chief architect of the construction and assembly Combine East .

From 1990 to 1992 Dieter was chief architect in the engineering office at Schönefeld Airport (IBS) and then until 1996 chief architect in the engineering office Hochbau Schönefeld (IHTS) . In 1996 he retired.
