Fritz Gleibe

Fritz Gleibe (born December 26, 1900 in Chemnitz , † August 17, 1990 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer , politician and Lord Mayor of Chemnitz.

Life

The son of a builder studied law and economics in Leipzig and Tübingen and received his doctorate in 1923 for Dr. jur. He worked in local and regional courts as well as in law offices in Saxony. From 1927 to 1931 he was second mayor in Löbau . From May 1931 to May 1945 he was a full-time city councilor and alderman in Chemnitz, where he was responsible for the housing and settlement office, property office, youth and welfare office, trade and market office. From 1937 he held the office of city treasurer and headed the cultural office. During this time he was also the second deputy of the mayor Walter Schmidt .

Gleibe was appointed head of the city by the Soviet occupying forces on May 19, 1945, replacing Ernst Ring . However, Gleibe only held office until he was replaced as Lord Mayor of Chemnitz by Heinrich Engelke in July 1945 . He was the head of the finance department until February 1946 and then resigned from the city service by order of the occupying forces. He then worked as a legal advisor in the private sector before moving to Hamm in Westphalia in 1951 , where he worked as an alderman. In August 1954, Gleibe was elected to the city council in Hanover, where he was the department head for social and health administration. From 1963 he was city ​​director and worked in Hanover until 1966.

He was a member of the Ghibellinia Leipzig fraternity in Hanover .
