Froschhausen is a church village in the wine village of Murnau am Staffelsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

geography

The place is in the Bavarian Oberland about 70 km south of Munich on the south bank of the Riegsee . The Froschhauser See nature reserve extends to the south .

history

The cath. The pilgrimage church of St. Leonhard was built around 1670 in the late Gothic style and originally had its own churchyard . It is protected as an architectural monument and built over a late medieval predecessor, the remains of which are protected as a ground monument.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Froschhausen in the 1810s as a hamlet with nine hearths north of the chapel.

On July 1, 1974, the previously independent community of Weindorf and its districts, including Froschhausen, were incorporated into Murnau am Staffelsee
