Géza Molnár (pastor)

Géza Ákos Molnár is an Austrian pastor and rhetoric trainer. He was a Protestant chaplain of Burgenland .

Molnár studied Protestant theology and teaching at the University of Vienna and in Tübingen from 1980 to 1984 . Afterwards he worked as a pastor and religion teacher. From 1988 to 1990 he was trained at the Wiener Neustädter Military Academy (TherMilAk) and the Vienna National Defense Academy (LVAk) as an officer in the military chaplaincy service. He then served as an officer in the military chaplaincy service (OdMSD) in the Austrian armed forces . In 1990 he came to Corps Command I in Graz. In 1995 he moved to the Burgenland Military Command (MilKdo B) in Eisenstadt; thus the country got a full-time Protestant military chaplain for the first time. During the Yugoslav wars in 1991 and 1996 he was employed as part of the border surveillance assistance at the Austrian border and for the first time in the history of the Evangelical Church in Austria in Bosnia as a military chief curate (equivalent to the rank of major) for care and pastoral care .

In the late 1990s, Molnár was engaged by FPÖ politician Norbert Hofer , with whom he was privately known, for rhetoric training.

In 2002, Molnár became publicly known through an article in the news magazine profil , which researched and verified relevant recordings with a partner on several pages from 1999 in the sex magazine ÖKM . Molnár justified himself with the fact that some time ago he had “great macho-like stupidities behind”. However, due to this affair, he was suspended in 2002. In addition, the Burgenland military command initiated disciplinary proceedings because it damaged the reputation of the Federal Army . In addition, he gave back his position as military pastor (equivalent to the rank of lieutenant colonel) of the Evangelical Church AB so that he would not be removed. By renouncing all rights, he ultimately resigned from the armed forces. The scandal was picked up in the regional and national Austrian press.

In 1999/2000 he was trained as part of the CiT Management Individual Training. Since 2002 he has been an independent rhetoric and leadership coach in Vienna with a consulting company ( dynamis ) that is also noticed in the media .

Molnár is married. One of his two sons is the FPÖ politician of the same name from Burgenland, Géza Molnár (* 1984), who in turn is considered to be the “Hofer protégé ”.
