Göran Järvefelt

Göran Järvefelt (born August 3, 1947 in Edsbyn , Hälsingland , † November 30, 1989 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish director and actor .

Career

After training as an actor at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm, he worked there for eight years before he decided to embark on a freelance career. From 1977 to 1979 he worked as chief director at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen . Between 1977 and 1989 he usually worked with the outfitter Carl Friedrich Oberle . This team achieved international fame for its operatic productions of numerous works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Richard Strauss , Richard Wagner , Claudio Monteverdi , Engelbert Humperdinck , Jacques Offenbach , Francis Poulenc , Gioachino Rossini , Antonio Salieri , Alessandro Stradella , Kurt Weill and Giuseppe Verdi .

In 1979, Järvefelt created the production of Mozart's Don Giovanni in the Drottningholm Palace Theater .

As a theater director he realized works by Henrik Ibsen , Aristophanes , Austregésilo de Athayde (1898–1993) and William Shakespeare .

Järvefelt staged in Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Germany, Holland , Switzerland , France , England , the USA , Italy and Canada .

In 1989 he died of complications from a brain tumor .
