Gösta Ekman the Younger
Hans Gösta Gustav Ekman (the younger), ( pronunciation : [ ˌ ʝœsːta ˈeːkman ], born July 28, 1939 in Stockholm ; † April 1, 2017 ibid) was a Swedish actor , screenwriter and director . He was the grandson of actor Gösta Ekman (the elder) and son of actor Hasse Ekman . He was married to Marie-Louise Ekman , who has been director of the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm since 2009 .
Life
Gösta Ekman began his career as an assistant director for his father Hasse Ekman in the mid-1950s and was also employed by Ingmar Bergman as an assistant director, including for the film Wilde Erdbeeren . However, Ekman wanted to become an actor and from 1963 appeared in various revues with Hans Alfredson and Tage Danielsson , from which a long-term collaboration should develop.
His talent for the comic and his “tripping skills” soon made him very popular with the Swedish audience. For many Swedes, Gösta Ekman is mainly known as Charles-Ingvar "Sickan" Jönsson , the plan-making gang leader of the Jönssonligan , in which he starred in the first four films that were released from 1981 to 1986. Gösta Ekman has also played serious roles, including numerous character roles during his time at the Stockholms stadsteater in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1973 he received the Swedish Guldbagge Film Award for his film Mannen som slutade röka (The man who gave up smoking) and in 2008 the Honorary Guldbagge for his many years of work.
For the German television audience, he became known for his interpretation of Commissioner Martin Beck, the main character in the crime novels by the Swedish author couple Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö . In 1996 he received the Adolf Grimme Prize for the role (together with Maj Sjöwall).
With the film Asta Nilssons sällskap from 2005 he announced that he would retire from film and theater.
With reference to his famous ancestors as an actor, Gösta Ekman once said: "I was already prominent as a sperm".
