Günter Martin Beilstein (born April 17, 1936 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German triathlete .

Career

Günter Beilstein was born as the son of bailiff Martin Beilstein and his wife Emmy, b. Forstmann, born. He attended elementary school in Łódź , where his family lived during World War II , in Gadernheim , in Duisburg - Hamborn and in Mülheim an der Ruhr as well as the municipal high school in Mülheim an der Ruhr and the Mercator high school in Duisburg. In the summer semester of 1955 he studied chemistry at the Philipps University of Marburg , from the winter semester of 1955/56 at the University of Vienna and from the summer semester of 1957 at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz .

Sports

Beilstein was co-founder, trainer and first chairman of the swimming department of TSV Bayer Dormagen 1920 e. V. Beilstein is a seven-time triathlon amateur world champion in his age group on the Olympic distance (1998, 2001, 2002, 2005–2008). He won the last world title in 2016 in the age group 78-84. He has also won several German and European championships in more than 100 competitions around the world.

Beilstein starts for TSV Bayer Dormagen and is a member of the board responsible for the Römer Therme (formerly Bayer-Bad). He also takes part in swimming competitions.
