Günter G. Seip

Günter G. Seip (born February 20, 1935 in Darmstadt ; † January 15, 2017 in Marloffstein ) was a German engineer, Siemens Director and Site Manager Regensburg , President of the Central Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) and, from 1990, the founding president of European Installation Bus Association (EIBA) based in Brussels .

Life

Günter Seip came from Hessen and was born the son of master locksmith Georg Seip and his wife Christine, née Schmidt. From 1953 to 1956 he studied at the Darmstadt City Engineering School .

He was head of the installation equipment and systems division at Siemens and plant manager in Regensburg. In this function he edited several international publications on the subject of electrical installation technology. The three-volume work Electrical Installation Technology is considered a standard work and appeared in several editions as well as in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese.

In 1984 he began a system for his employees with the development of building system technology based on a separate two-core low-voltage line and the associated hardware and software in the precursor of the later development of the control bus system , which in 1987 together with Berker , Jung , Gira , Merten in Instabus community until the founding of the EIBA in 1990 and from which the European Installation Bus (EIB) emerged.

Seip was a member of the board of the ZVEI as well as president, member of the European committee for electrotechnical standardization (CENELEC) and of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Regensburg . He promoted the work of the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg , was a member of the board of trustees and a member of the Association of Friends of OTH Regensburg.

The marriage in 1959 resulted in a son and a daughter. Günter Seip died a few weeks before he was 82 years old. His urn was buried in Marloffstein.
