Günter Kiefer-Lerch
Günter Kiefer-Lerch (born December 19, 1937 in Danzig ; † October 20, 2014 in Berlin ; also Günter Lerch ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
life and work
Kiefer-Lerch grew up in Danzig-West Prussia . At the end of the Second World War , his mother fled to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with him and his older brother . In 1945 the family settled in Ribnitz-Damgarten , where he graduated from high school in 1956. Later he attended the college for applied arts in Heiligendamm . In 1960 he graduated as a commercial artist , moved in 1964 to Berlin and entered 1965 in the Association of Artists of the GDR one. He illustrated for advertising and as a book illustrator for Aufbau-Verlag , Rütten & Loening and Eulenspiegel-Verlag . From 1989 he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist in Berlin. He traveled regularly to work in the Ahrenshoop artists' colony .
Kiefer-Lerch mainly drew pastels , watercolors and acrylic paintings , whereby numerous Nordic landscape motifs were created in addition to abstract works. At the same time, he repeatedly caricaturedly dealt with socio-political issues. Kiefer-Lerch co-founded the cartoon factory in Berlin in 1991 .
Until his death in 2014, Kiefer-Lerch lived and worked in his living and working studio in Berlin-Friedrichshagen . His grave is in the FriedWald Bernau near Berlin .
