Günter Rehak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Günter Rehak (born September 2, 1939 in Vienna ) is a former socialist, now right-wing extremist Austrian politician , author and former ministerial official . He is chairman of the National People's Party (NVP).

Life

Rehak studied technical physics . In 1958 he joined the SPÖ, was national chairman of the VSStÖ in 1966/67 and later a member of the Association of Socialist Academics (BSA). During his time as Federal Chancellor, he was a close collaborator of Bruno Kreisky . In 1981 he left the BSA and turned to the United Greens of Austria , the more conservative of the two predecessor organizations of today's Greens .

In the course of the letter bomb attacks by Franz Fuchs in the 1990s, Rehak was suspected by some media of having written letters of confession. This led to a parliamentary question to the Federal Chancellery , his employer at the time.

In 2010, Rehak announced that it wanted to run the newly founded Vienna List (of which it was to be the top candidate) in the Vienna municipal council elections in October. The list deliberately wanted to address “right-wing” voters, for example, it sees Gerd Honsik, who was convicted of Holocaust denial , as a “victim of justice” and calls for an “immediate immigration stop”. However, she did not reach the number of declarations of support required to run. In February 2011, the list was dissolved and incorporated into the far-right National People's Party, of which he became the new chairman.
