Günter Willumeit
Günter Willumeit (born December 10, 1941 in Memel ; † October 17, 2013 in Bad Segeberg ) was a German humorist , parodist , entertainer and dentist .
Life
As a refugee child, he came from East Prussia with his parents and his sister to Holstein via Pomerania and Mecklenburg in 1945 . He spent his youth in Bühnsdorf and Bad Segeberg, where he graduated from high school in 1962. After two years in the Bundeswehr , from which he resigned as a lieutenant in the reserve (air defense), he studied dentistry in Kiel , where he passed the state examination in 1970 and received his license to practice medicine . After his doctorate as Dr. med. dent. at the University of Hamburg he practiced as a dentist in Bad Segeberg for almost 25 years.
In his spare time he appeared in bars as a humorist in the evenings, and had growing success with his jokes and parodies. From the very beginning, the rural-village environment in which he grew up was a permanent source of inspiration for him. In the mid-1970s his well-known alter ego matured in him : the figure of the brash tractor driver Bauer Piepenbrink . In it he personified the familiar, dry, subtle Holstein humor with a low German tongue. For the first time he played Piepenbrink for the school radio series Neues aus Waldhagen . After a performance in the Hamburg club Onkel Pö , Ulf Krüger von Leinemann brokered him a record deal .
He soon became known throughout German-speaking countries through appearances on radio and television. He had his greatest song success with a German cover version of the Village People hit YMCA , LMAA , which made it to the German charts. As a parodist, he mastered 50 speaking and singing voices and almost all dialects . Also, speech disorders ( stuttering , harelip ) were part of his repertoire. He released 27 LPs / CDs and 18 books with humor, cabaret, parody and entertainment. His motto was: There is nothing better than making people laugh.
After the death of his first wife, Willumeit met his second wife Karin on Sylt , who brought daughters and grandchildren into the marriage. He had given up his dental practice in 1994 and since then has been concentrating entirely on his appearances, including as a permanent guest in the NDR series Freut dich des Nordens and Lachen from Lüders Krug . Since 1994 he had a second home in Niendorf .
Until recently, Günter Willumeit appeared on various stages. Willumeit suffered from esophageal cancer and died on 17 October 2013 aged 71 in his adopted home of Bad Segeberg his cancer . On the morning of October 25, 2013, there was a memorial service in his honor in the Marienkirche in Bad Segeberg. Günter Willumeit was then buried at sea.
