Güntersen is a district six kilometers south of Adelebsen and 18 km west of the city of Göttingen . According to the natural structure of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation , Güntersen is located in the Solling foreland natural area . Immediately to the west of the village, the 330 m above sea level rises . NN high wooded Backenberg , a basalt cone with mining craters. The Auschnippe flows 1.5 km east and north of the village.
history
Güntersen was first mentioned as "Gunteresu" in 1059 in a document from King Heinrich IV. On January 1, 1973, Güntersen was incorporated into the Adelebsen area.

Güntersen has a lawn sports field, tennis court, basketball court and a boules pitch . The cultural life in Güntersen is determined by clubs such as the sports club, choir club, local history club, shooting club, theater club, dance club and the volunteer fire brigade .

Local council
Since the local elections in 2011, the local council has consisted of five members of the “Günterser List” and two members of the SPD . The local mayor is Norbert Hasselmann from the Günters list.
coat of arms
On August 31, 1950 the Northeim district administration handed over the coat of arms of the Güntersen community, awarded by the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior. It is a shield split by blue and silver with two ears of wheat in confused colors. It is intended to symbolize both the economic character of the place as a farming village and its historical affiliation to the old court and office of Adelebsen.

Güntersen is part of the Southern Lower Saxony transport association . Bus line 115 runs from Göttingen via Güntersen to Adelebsen. Sometimes you have to change trains in Esebeck.
