Günther Bockelmann (born June 8, 1945 , † July 12, 2009 in Bremerhaven ) was a Bremerhaven choir director and singer of shanties .

Only after his marine career did Bockelmann, a trained bass player , study music. Before that he went to sea. He started as a cabin boy on the Passat in 1962 , and was also a senior boatman on the Gorch Fock . He taught electronics at the Bremerhaven Marine Operations School . Later Bockelmann was a recreational sailor.

Bockelmann became known as a singer of traditional shanties , including the Bremen harbor concert on the radio . In 1982 he released the solo LP Song of the Coast, based on texts from the pirate report by the poet Fritz Grasshoff , set to music by Heinz Gietz . He was also the choirmaster of the naval choir of the Blue Boys from Bremerhaven, with whom he also released sound carriers.

Until his death, Bockelmann appeared as " Hein Mück from Bremerhaven" and thereby also promoted the city.
