Gašper Marguč (born August 20, 1990 in Celje , Republic of Slovenia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian handball player . Marguč is 1.80 m tall and weighs 74 kg and is mostly used on the right wing .
Career
society
The left-hander began playing handball in his hometown at the renowned Slovenian club RK Celje . Since the 2009/10 season he has been a member of the professional team. With Celje he won the championship and the cup in 2010 and 2014, as well as the trophy in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Before the 2013/14 season he, like the entire team, had to accept a 30% wage drop. His contract runs until summer 2015. On March 16, 2014, the top Hungarian club KC Veszprém announced the transfer for summer 2014.
Internationally, the winger reached the quarter-finals of the EHF Cup 2009/10 and the semifinals of the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2011/12 . In the EHF Champions League 2012/13 he was one of the top ten goal scorers with 72 goals. Also in the EHF Champions League 2013/14 he is one of the top scorers of the competition.
National team
At the U-20 European Championship 2010 Gašper Marguč won the bronze medal with Slovenia and was the tournament's top scorer with 49 goals together with Kentin Mahé .
For the Slovenian national team Marguč has so far played 108 international matches , in which he scored 368 goals. He was in the extended squad for the European Championship 2012 , but had to give way to the experienced Dragan Gajič and Matjaž Brumen in his position . At the 2013 World Cup , he was named to the final squad and reached fourth place.
