Gabriele Hiller-Ohm (born Ohm ; born February 28, 1953 in Lübeck ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and editor . She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 . Since 2014 she has been the spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group on tourism policy .

Life and work

After graduating from high school , Gabriele Hiller-Ohm first studied German , history and education at the University of Hamburg . She then began training as an electrical installer , which she had to break off due to the insolvency of the training company. She worked as an editor from 1982 and in 1987 switched to the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences as a press and public relations officer . In 1997 she took over the management of the office for the participation of the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences in the European vocational training and mobility program "Leonardo Da Vinci" .

Hiller-Ohm is divorced and has two children.

Political party

Gabriele Hiller-Ohm has been a member of the SPD since 1983. From 2008 to 2014 she was deputy chairwoman of the SPD district association Lübeck. Since 2013 she has been chairwoman of the Lübeck Working Group of Social Democratic Women (ARSP). Gabriele Hiller-Ohm belongs to the left wing of the SPD. She is a member of the parliamentary left within the SPD parliamentary group .

Gabriele Hiller-Ohm belonged to the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck from 1990 to 2002 and was chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1999 to 2002.

She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 . She is a full member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee and the Tourism Committee . In the 18th Bundestag she was a deputy member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture . In the 19th German Bundestag , Hiller-Ohm is the chairwoman of the Tourism Committee and continues to be a member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee and the Food and Agriculture Committee. Gabriele Hiller-Ohm has been chairwoman of the tourism working group since 2014 and thus spokeswoman for tourism policy for the SPD parliamentary group . Since 2005 she has been deputy spokeswoman for the Schleswig-Holstein state group in the SPD parliamentary group.

Gabriele Hiller-Ohm moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Lübeck constituency from 2002 to 2013 . In her first federal election in 2002 she received 50.8 percent of the first votes . In the 2005 Bundestag election , she received 49.7 percent of the first votes. In the 2009 Bundestag elections , she again received the direct mandate with 36.7 percent of the first votes. In the 2013 Bundestag election , she received 40.7 percent of the first votes.

In the general election in 2017 she went to again defeated in the bid for the direct mandate but the CDU candidate Claudia Schmidtke . However, it moved back into the Bundestag via the state list.

Hiller-Ohm participates in the “Transparent Members” project and publishes their income and appointments on a regular basis.

Political positions

Gabriele Hiller-Ohm is a staunch opponent of combat missions by the Bundeswehr . In roll-call votes , she repeatedly voted against the majority of her group . However, she has agreed to humanitarian operations.

Hiller-Ohm has long campaigned for the introduction of the statutory minimum wage and for the discount-free pension from 63 after 45 years of contribution . As the responsible rapporteur for the SPD parliamentary group, she also campaigned for the quota of women on supervisory boards and for the wage equity law.
