Gabrielle Allyse Reece (born January 6, 1970 in San Diego ) is an American model , beach volleyball player , presenter and actress , who is also known through numerous appearances on US television.

life and career

Reece was born in La Jolla . Her father died in an airplane accident when she was 5 years old. Reece studied communications at Florida State University on a volleyball scholarship and then played as a professional in Florida and California . Before graduating, she began modeling and made it onto the covers of magazines such as Life , Elle and Playboy, among others .

After marrying Hawaiian tow-in surfer Laird Hamilton in 1997, she turned to golf. Reece is the mother of two daughters. She also became known as the host of the series the extremists and as an actress in Gattaca and Cloud 9 .

beach volleyball

Reece played on the WPVA beach volleyball tour in the USA in 1992. From 1998 to 2000 she played on the international FIVB World Tour with Linda Hanley and Holly McPeak in addition to national tournaments . The highlight was the beach volleyball world championship in 1999 in Marseille , where McPeak / Reece landed in 17th place.
