Gaines Adams (born June 8, 1983 in Greenwood , South Carolina , † January 17, 2010 there ) was an American American football player. He played as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL), most recently with the Chicago Bears .

Player career

college

Gaines Adams studied at Clemson University from 2002 to 2006 and played for the Clemson Tigers as Defensive End College Football from 2003 . Adams played with his team in three bowl games , two of which were won. He received three college awards for his athletic achievements and was voted All-American in 2006.

NFL

In 2007, Adams was drafted fourth in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . Adams signed a contract for six years with an income of 46 million US dollars . With the team trained by Jon Gruden , he moved into the play-offs in his rookie year . The team failed early on the New York Giants with 24:14. Adams was able to bring down the Giants quarterback Eli Manning once in the game . During the 2009 season, Adams was given to the Chicago Bears , the Bears took a draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft to the team from Tampa Bay .

death

On January 17, 2010, Adams was found dead in his home by his partner. He died of cardiac arrest caused by cardiomegaly .
