The Galaxy is a ferry that is used by Silja Line in traffic between Stockholm and Åbo / Turku.

history

The ship, built under hull number 435 at Aker Finnyards in Rauma , was ordered by Tallink on October 28, 2004 . The keel was laid on April 21, 2005. On December 1, the ship was undocked and christened by Johanna-Lisebel Järvelill . On April 18, 2006, the Galaxy was delivered to Tallink Sea Line. The ship sailed under the Estonian flag with home port Tallinn . Initially, the ship was used between Tallinn and Helsinki. The ship has been sailing under the Swedish flag since July 21, 2008. Two days later, on July 23, 2008, the Galaxy was used for the first time on the Stockholm - Mariehamn / Långnäs - Åbo / Turku route, on which the ship is still operating today.

On November 29, 2012, a fire broke out on board the ship, but it was quickly extinguished by the crew.

Sister ships

The ship has two sister ships, the Baltic Princess and Baltic Queen .
