The Galerie Brusberg is a gallery for classical modern and contemporary art founded in 1958, which has been based in Berlin-Charlottenburg since 1982 .

history

Dieter Brusberg (1935–2015) founded the gallery in 1958 in Hanover . The starting point was the Bauhaus idea of ​​a symbiosis of free and applied art. In 1982 he opened a second gallery in a representative old building on Kurfürstendamm 213 in Berlin . In 1985 he joined the Hanover gallery and rented additional storage rooms in the rooms built by Peter Behrens for AEG in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen , in which presentations were occasionally held.

Since its founding determine Modern Art , art of non-European cultures, figurative art of the present, especially Surrealism and Dada , and vintage design of the 20th century the gallery's program: works by Horst Antes , Hans Arp , Fernando Botero , Paul Delvaux , Max Ernst , Werner Heldt , Konrad Klapheck , Henri Laurens , René Magritte , Ernst Marow , Wolfgang Oppermann , Walter Stöhrer , Rolf Szymanski and Tom Wesselmann formed the focus. Brusberg has been running its own edition for years and publishes books, catalog raisonnés and two catalog series: the Brusberg documents and the cabinet prints . The edition includes extensive books and cassettes with original graphics by the artists it represents.

The gallery regularly took part in the " Kölner Kunstmarkt" (now Art Cologne ), which Brusberg was involved in establishing in 1966, Art Basel and TEFAF in Maastricht.

On January 1, 2011, the gallery also closed the " Hofgalerie " in the building on Kurfürstendamm 213 after the rooms on the first floor and moved into a private house and a Schaulager with exhibition facilities in Berlin's Westend. With the move to the " Wunderkammer " at Friedbergstrasse 29 in Berlin-Charlottenburg , the Brusberg Gallery, under the direction of Felix Brusberg, is returning to its initial activities.
