history
A structure in Smithville , a Unincorporated Community within the Galloway Township, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as of September 28, 2018, the Smithville Apothecary .
Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 31,209 people, 10,772 households and 7,680 families in the city. The population density is 133.2 inhabitants per km². 77.16% of the population are White, 9.80% African American , 0.24% Native American , 8.00% Asian , 0.05% Pacific Islander , 2.59% Other Ethnicity, and 2.16% Mixed Race . 6.16% are Latinos of various backgrounds.
Of the 10,772 households, 38.4% have children under the age of 18. 54.5% of them are married couples living together, 12.4% are single mothers, 28.7% are not families, 21.5% are single households and 6.6% are people over 65. The average household size is 2 , 70, the average family size 3.18.
