Ganda is a city in Angola .
history
Until Angola's independence in 1975, the city had the Portuguese place name Mariano Machado.

Ganda is the seat of the district of the same name ( Município ) in the Angolan province of Benguela . The district has an area of 4817 km² and around 208,000 inhabitants (2011 estimate).
In the north, the Ganda district borders on the Bocoio and Balombo districts , in the east on the Tchinjenje , Ukuma and Longonjo districts in the Huambo province , in the south on the Caconda and Caluquembe districts , and in the west on the Cubal district .

Ganda is located on the historic Benguela Railway , which connects the city with the provincial capital Benguela and the port city of Lobito , as well as with Huambo , the second largest city of Angola, and with Luau , where the route leads to the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and into the connection of the Société National des Chemins de fer du Congo passes.
