Gareth David-Lloyd (born March 28, 1981 in Bettws , Newport , Wales ) is a British actor and prog metal singer. International He gained fame through his role as Ianto Jones in Doctor Who - offshoot Torchwood . The character was so popular that David Lloyd nine years after Ianto's death regularly invited to international science fiction - Conventions as the SDCC perceives and Ianto in a variety of ( hearing ) books and original Cast- radio plays through time jumps again Was brought to life, most recently in July 2017.

Life

As a teenager, Gareth David-Lloyd was a member of the Gwent People's Theater in Abergavenny and The Dolman Youth Theater . There he came in such plays as Macbeth , The Threepenny Opera and Henry V. on. After a performance at Monmouth Castle , former Labor chairman Neil Kinnock sent him £ 250 that David-Lloyd was to use for his career.

He trained as an actor at the National Youth Theater . Since 2003 he has had various guest roles in television series such as Casualty , Absolute Power or Mine All Mine . In 2006, Mine-All-Mine series creator Russell T Davies , who remembered him fondly, cast him for one of the lead roles in the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood . In 2008 he appeared in his role as Ianto Jones in two episodes of Doctor Who . Since the preliminary end of the television production of Torchwood , books, comics and radio plays with the original cast of the series have continued to appear regularly. In 2011 he produced the film Casimir Effect , in which he also took on the lead role and contributed the soundtrack as lead singer with his progressive metal band Blue Gillespie .

Gareth David-Lloyd has been married to Gemma James since 2010. They have a daughter (* 2012) together.
