Gary Knoke ( Gary James Knoke; born February 5, 1942 in Sydney , † July 10, 1984 in Canberra ) was an Australian hurdler and sprinter .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in 1962 , he was fourth over 440 yard hurdles and eliminated over 120 yard hurdles in the lead.

Two years later he was fourth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 400 m hurdles and was eliminated in the 4-by-400-meter relay in the preliminary run.

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 , he was each fifth over 440 yard hurdles and in the 4-by-440-yard relay. Over 120 yard hurdles he failed again in the first round.

In 1968 he reached the semifinals at the Olympic Games in Mexico City over 400 m hurdles and was eliminated over 110 m hurdles in the preliminary run. The following year, he won at the Pacific Conference Games over 400m hurdles .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 , he was eighth over 400 m hurdles and was eliminated over 400 m in the semifinals.

He reached the semi-finals over 400 m hurdles at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and won silver at the Pacific Conference Games in 1973. At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, he was seventh over 400 m hurdles and fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Seven times he was Australian champion over 400 m hurdles or 440 yard hurdles (1965-1967, 1970-1973) and twice over 110 m hurdles or 120 yard hurdles (1965, 1967).
