Gau Pustertal
The Gau Pustertal ( Pustrissa ) was established after the union of the Duchy of Bavaria with the Franconian Empire under Charlemagne after 788 . It stretched from the Mühlbacher Klause north of Brixen eastwards to the Kristeinerbach , today the municipality boundary between Anras and Assling in the Puster Valley , including the side valleys. Thing communities with thingsteads there was in St. Lorenzen , St. Georgen , Toblach and Sillian , Empire parishes in St. Lorenzen, St. Georgen, Kien , Olang , Taufers , Niederdorf , Dobbiaco Sillian. The Benedictine monastery in Innichen remained in the possession of the Bishop of Freising .
West of the Gaus Pustertal was the Gau Norital , east of the Kristeinerbach the Lurngau , which reached up to Villach .
