Gaudenzio Patrignani

Gaudenzio Patrignani OFM (originally Giovanni Antonio Patrignani ; * July 15, 1755 in Coriano , † February 15, 1823 in Ferentino ) was an Italian Roman Catholic religious and bishop of Ferentino .

Life

He entered the order of the Franciscan Observants and took the name of the order Gaudenzio da Coriano . He was ordained a priest on December 19, 1778. He was lecturer of theology in his order, then professor at the Collegio Urbano and professor of the Holy Scriptures at the Convent of Santa Maria in Aracoeli . He was General Procurator and from 1814 to 1817 General Minister of the Order of Observants.

In 1802 he entered the service of the Curia as Consultor of the Holy Office . On September 16, 1814 he was also appointed examiner for the bishops in theology, and on September 29, 1819 as consultor of the Congregation Propaganda Fide .

Pope Pius VII appointed him Bishop of Ferentino on May 25, 1818. He was ordained bishop on June 7th of the same year by the Cardinal Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina Antonio Dugnani ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Francesco Bertazzoli , Secretary of the Study Congregation , and Archbishop Candido Maria Frattini .
