The Gauliga Mittelrhein 1937/38 was the fifth season of the Gauliga Mittelrhein of the German Football Association . Since the Kölner CfR and the Kölner SC merged into VfL Köln 1899 in 1899 , the Gauliga was played in a round- robin tournament with ten teams in one group this season . Originally Alemannia Aachen prevailed and became Gaumeister. However, SV Beuel 06 protested against a game evaluation and was awarded two points from a lost game at the green table , making them Mittelrheinmeister. However , it was too late to take part in the German soccer championship in 1937/38 , and Aachen took part in it. In a group with Hanover 96 , 1. FC Nürnberg and FC Hanau 93, the Aacheners came third, which was not enough to advance. The Bonn FV 01 and the Cologne BC 01 were relegated, in return SSV Troisdorf 05 and TuS Neuendorf rose from the district leagues.
