The Gauliga Schleswig-Holstein 1942/43 was the first season of the Gauliga Schleswig-Holstein of the German Football Association . Due to the war, the Gauliga Nordmark was divided into the three regional Gauligen Hamburg , Mecklenburg and Schleswig-Holstein at the end of the 1941/42 season . The Gauliga Schleswig-Holstein was played in a group of ten teams this season. Holstein Kiel secured the Gau championship and qualified for the German football championship in 1942/43 . After victories over TSG Rostock , Berliner SV 92 and theFC Schalke 04 reached the semi-finals from Kiel, which were lost 3-1 to the future German soccer champions Dresdner SC . In the subsequent game for third place, Kiel was able to achieve third place in the German football championship thanks to a 4-1 victory over First Vienna FC 1894 .
