The Gauliga Westfalen 1941/42 was the ninth season of the Gauliga Westfalen in football. FC Schalke 04 secured the championship with eight points ahead of Borussia Dortmund . Schalke qualified for the final round of the German championship , where they won the championship with a 2-0 final win over Vienna Wien . The relegation ranks were occupied by SpVgg Herten and VfB 03 Bielefeld . Arminia Marten and STV Horst-Emscher rose from the district leagues . Arminia Bielefeld's 13: 4 victory at VfL Altenbögge was the highest -scoring encounter in Gauliga history. Gelsenguß Gelsenkirchen started under the name Alemannia Gelsenkirchen from the 1942/43 season .
