Gebersdorf is a district of the city of Gräfenthal in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia with 268 inhabitants.

location

Gebersdorf is located west of Graefenthal on state road 1098, which leads to Lippelsdorf on federal road 281 . The district is located in the Thuringian Slate Mountains . The cropped area of the village lies in a typical low mountain range. It is characterized by valley, slope and altitude.

history

The village was first mentioned on February 7, 1337. Gebersdorf was an old carter village. Forestry and, to a limited extent, agriculture were other sources of income alongside tourism (outside the GDR period).

With the opening of the Probstzella – Bock-Wallendorf railway on October 15, 1898, Gebersdorf received a railway connection with the station of the same name. On January 22nd, 1997 the tourist traffic in the section Ernstthal-Probstzella was stopped, on July 1st, 2006 this section was closed.

Today the place is a popular holiday village.

On April 9, 1994 (date of legal effect) the place was incorporated into Graefenthal.
