The Gehaansbaach rises at a height of 251.4  m in Gutland in the area of the Grevenmacher district near the Grevenmacher village of Potaschberg . The source is located southeast of the Potaschberg industrial park in a reed bed just south of the A1 .

The stream initially flows in a south-southeast direction through grassland with moist tall herbaceous vegetation in places . From the Scheiwichwiss corridor, it runs south. Small streams of water flow towards it from both sides. He is now switching to arable land with annual crops. In the Reit Flur a good fifty meters north of the N.1 it changes to the southeast and runs through a wet landscape with reed beds and alluvial forest . It now enters the Natura 2000 - Habitat Greivenmaacherbierg and flows there immediately through swamp and low moor and then through a small forest with bushes and hardwoods . There is a grotto nearby . The Gehaansbaach now crosses under the N.1, flows in the Aal corridor in an arch, first through forest, then past a forester's house and then runs through an orchard meadow . It now crosses the N.1 again, this time from south to north and, accompanied by thick wood, moves north-east through grassland. In the Gehaansflour it flows north past a small pond and then south past a Großseggenried . It now flows under a shopping center , then runs east-northeast north of the N.1, here called Rue de Luxembourg , through bushes and hedges.

It now reaches the north-eastern edge of Grevenmacher and passes, mostly underground, the village in a south-south-east direction and finally flows a little above the Pont de Grevenmacher at a height of 134  m from the left into the Moselle, which is last approaching from the south-west .
