Saedinenie ( Bulgarian Съединение ) is a city and administrative center of a municipality of the same name in Plovdiv Oblast in central Bulgaria . The city with 5502 inhabitants (as of December 2016) is located in the Thracian Plain , approx. 20 km northwest of Plovdiv . The A1 motorway runs 7 km to the south.
The name of the city means association in Bulgarian. It has been the namesake of the Saedinenie snowfield on Livingston Island in Antarctica since 2005 .
