Georg Cavallar

Georg Cavallar (born April 22, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian. He is university lecturer for modern history at the Institute for History at the University of Vienna , author and teaches English, history, philosophy and psychology at the Wasagymnasium in Vienna .

Life

After completing his high school diploma and military service, Cavallar completed the teaching degree courses in history and social studies (major), English (minor) and philosophy, psychology, pedagogy (additional studies) with the degrees Mag. Phil. (1986) and Dr. phil. (1989) at the University of Vienna. He spent 1990 to 1991 at the Department of Philosophy, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute , New York State, on a research project funded by the Fund to Promote Scientific Research . In 1991 he started working as an AHS teacher. In the 1998-9 academic year he conducted research on international philosophical law as a Schrödinger scholarship holder at the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Riverside . In 2003 he completed his habilitation in the Department of Modern History at the University of Vienna.

Cavallar teaches at the Institute for Philosophy and is a lecturer in the postgraduate European course at the University of Vienna. His main research interests are Kant's legal philosophy , the history of international law and cosmopolitanism , cosmopolitan education and the European Enlightenment . He also writes regular guest comments for Austrian newspapers such as Die Presse or Der Standard .

He lives in Vienna with his wife and three children.
