General Georg Daniel von Gerlach

Georg Daniel von Gerlach (born August 31, 1797 in Eckernförde , † March 7, 1865 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish lieutenant general . During the German-Danish War in 1864 he succeeded Christian Julius de Meza as commander of the Danish army . He was the son of the captain of Schleswig's Jägerkorps Molter Christoph Gerlach and his wife Anna Sabine Magdalena (née Boehn).

Military career

1808 Gerlach country was cadet , 1813 second lieutenant in the infantry, 1822 First Lieutenant , 1830 Staff Captain, 1842 Captain First Class, 1847 Major. In 1848 he received the character of a lieutenant colonel and in 1849 real lieutenant colonel, 1850 Colonel and 1858 Major General . In 1859 Gerlach was appointed inspector general of the infantry . In 1863 he became lieutenant general and when war broke out in 1864 he was chief of the 1st division.
