Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein (born August 20, 1898 in Nördlingen , † March 27, 1965 in Würzburg ) was a German landowner and politician ( CSU ).

Johann Georg Karl Arbogast Maria Joseph Antonius Aloysius Benediktus Bernhard Moriz Alfred von und zu Franckenstein was one of five children of Moritz von und zu Franckenstein (1869-1931) and his first wife Maria Pia Countess zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1870-1913).

On December 1, 1925, he married Caroline Princess von Schönburg-Hartenstein in Vienna ; from the marriage there were five daughters and one son. The family seat was at Ullstadt Castle in Middle Franconia.

Life

Georg von und zu Franckenstein attended the humanistic grammar school in Ettal . During the First World War he was a soldier at the front before he was dismissed as a lieutenant . After the war he studied at the University of Würzburg and the Hohenheim Agricultural University (graduate farmer). After various internships in agriculture, he took over the management of the family's own agricultural and forestry operations in 1931. During the Second World War he was called up twice and was used in the replacement army in Bamberg and in France . He was a co-founder of the Bavarian Farmers' Association and President of the Society for the Franconian History of Catholic Nobles in Bavaria. He was committed to horse breeding and was co-founder and first chairman of the insemination association Neustadt / Aisch-Scheinfeld.

In 1957 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in Munich on April 30, 1957 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He belonged to the Commandery of Nuremberg. His wife Caroline became a member of the order in 1964.

In 1945, Franckenstein was appointed district administrator of the Scheinfeld district by the US military government , and in this position he was confirmed twice in elections. In 1946 he was a candidate of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) for the state constitutional assembly .

From November 27, 1950 until his death he was a member of the state parliament , always directly elected in the Scheinfeld - Neustadt / Aisch constituency :
