Compositional style

From an interview with the music documentation center of the State of Vorarlberg : My compositional style and the advantage that my generation of composers have in my opinion have a lot in common. Our lead and our curse is to have a greater distance. For me this means two things: Firstly: Never having seen the waves of Donaueschingen, Darmstadt, etc., which has a lot of consequences. Second: the music, if you manage to see from a different perspective than the contenders of a cause. For me this means a greater calm in the composition process as well as in the works themselves, and a greater awareness of the means. If, for our previous generations, certain means, forms and materials corresponded to the time, we, as those who have never heard the real bang, are in my opinion asked more than ever to examine each of these means under the microscope, to fathom, what kind of way it has taken, and in how far it can be used today (for itself). This is what makes a composer of my generation a good composer, among other things. Tonal means are also not excluded here, as is any tool that I am convinced of being useful for a specific cause.
