Georg Giesing

Georg Giesing (born August 30, 1942 in Wuppertal - Barmen ; † April 19, 2006 in Cologne ) was a German social worker and writer .

Life

After training as a gardener , Georg Giesing completed further training as an educator . He then studied social pedagogy. After completing his studies, he worked as a lecturer at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and from 1977 as a teacher at a vocational college in Cologne-Ehrenfeld . Giesing has been involved in a Cologne citizens' initiative for environmental protection since the late 1970s and, from 1980, with the Cologne Greens .

In addition to his professional activity, Georg Giesing was the author of stories, mainly on the regional history of the Rhineland . In addition, he dealt with painting and drawing.

Before his death, Giesing worked on a biography of Fritz Graßhoff . He had dealt intensively with this writer and painter and, as a small artist, recited his poems at numerous events.
