Georg Kontny

Georg Kontny (born April 17, 1814 in Leschnig , Upper Silesia , † December 19, 1873 in Gliwice ), was a German doctor and local politician .

Life

Kontny his doctorate in 1836 at the University of Breslau for Dr. med. (Title: De petechiis ). He then specialized in surgery and obstetrics and settled in Oberglogau . In 1852 Kontny became a district physician for the Tost-Gleiwitz district .

Kontny was a city ​​councilor in Gleiwitz from 1857 , from 1861 to 1867 he held the office of the city ​​councilor , before he was a member of the magistrate of the city of Gliwice from 1867 to 1871 . In 1869 he was given the honorary title of medical councilor .

Originally of a Catholic denomination, Kontny was the founding chairman of the Gliwice Old Catholics Association in 1872 , a position he held until shortly before his death.

He was married to Ida Kontny, born in Leobschütz . Rotter (1813-1875). The son Guido Kontny also became a doctor and district physician. The daughter Eva married the merchant Joseph Lowack, son of a Rathmann of the same name from Grottkau .
