Georg Nickaes

Georg "Schorsch" Nickaes (born June 12, 1971 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a German mountaineer and alpine athlete. He is a member of the German national ski mountaineering team and active spokesman there.

Nickaes, who practices various alpine sports, including mountain running and ice climbing , completed his training as an army mountain guide in 1994 and has been a competitive sport in ski mountaineering ever since . After he emerged as the best German participant in the " DIAMIR-Race " (unofficial German ski mountaineering championship before membership of the DAV in the ISMC ) at Dammkar , he was subsequently recognized by the German Alpine Club (DAV) for participating in international competitions in this sport nominated and participated in the European Cup , in European and three times in the World Championships in ski mountaineering. He took part in the Patrouille des Glaciers several times . In 2001, as a member of a team of three at the Trofeo Mezzalama in the province of Aosta in Italy, he achieved the best time ever achieved by German starters.

During a three-day ski tour in Berchtesgadener Land, Nickaes and his two companions were buried up to their necks by a slab of snow , but were able to free themselves again with their own efforts.

He is married and has one child.
