In 1859, the magazine Deutsches Museum , published by Robert Prutz in Leipzig, brought Pertz's transfer of the poem “” by Felicia Hemans under the title “Der Schiffbruch”, and in 1859, 1861 and 1862 it was followed by further translations from English.

In 1859, for the 100th birthday of Robert Burns , Albert Traeger published selected poems translated by Pertz, with a biography written by Traeger. Pertz presented the 69 pieces in three groups under the titles "Love and Homeland", "Female Voices" and "Launiges", which also met with criticism a good century later, similar to the portrait of the honoree included as "Image of a perfumed, sweet mother boy ”.

Pertz's own poems included, for example, the Elegy to my coffee machine that appeared in the collection of foreign and own in Heidelberg and Leipzig in 1862 in the CF Winterschen publishing house .

Then Pertz returned to Berlin to prepare for the second legal exam. In October 1864 he traveled to Trier via Naumburg to take an exam . There he disappeared, however, and was considered missing for 8 days until he finally appeared “in a mentally ill condition with a youngest brother in Koblenz .” He was now admitted to the “Richarz'sche Heilanstalt” of the psychiatrist Franz Richarz in Endeich near Bonn died there on October 11, 1870 from a stroke.
