Georg Roch

Georg Roch (born March 30, 1881 in Dresden ; † September 14, 1943 ) was a German sculptor who was particularly known for his animal sculptures. Most of his works were created together with Hermann Feuerhahn .

Life

In 1900 he began studying at the Munich Art Academy under Wilhelm von Rümann . From 1910 to 1911 Roch had a studio house built in Buckow, east of Berlin, based on plans by Bruno Möhring . The house, the so-called “Iron Villa”, was later used as a summer house by Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel . Today the Brecht-Weigel-Haus is located in the building . The garden still houses sculptures by Roch, the house is a listed building . Georg Roch's tomb is in Block Epiphany, Garden Block I, Hereditary Burial 35 on the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf near Berlin.
