Georg Rudolf Koegel
Georg Rudolf Koegel (born November 29, 1855 in Leipzig , † March 5, 1899 in Basel ) was a German specialist in German .

His parents were the city official Franz Julius Koegel and his wife Dorothea Theresia Schotte .
Life
Koegel studied from 1866 at the Thomasschule in Leipzig and from 1874 he studied German , comparative linguistics and classical philology at the University of Leipzig . His professors included Friedrich Zarncke , Wilhelm Braune , Friedrich August Eckstein , Georg Curtius and August Leskien . In 1878 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil.
After that he became a teacher at the old Nikolaischule . He completed his habilitation in 1883, became a private lecturer in German studies and in 1888 an associate professor in Leipzig. He later became a full professor of German language and literature at the University of Basel . In 1898 he was rector .
In September 1892 he married Cecile von Salis from Basel. After the death of her husband, the widow married Professor Otto von Herff .
