Wilhelm Brown

Theodor Wilhelm Braune (born February 20, 1850 in Großthiemig , † November 10, 1926 in Heidelberg ) was a German Germanic Medievalist .

Life

Wilhelm Braune went to the University of Leipzig in 1869 , completed his habilitation there in 1874, received an extraordinary professorship in 1877 and worked as a professor of German language and literature in Giessen from 1880 and as professor of Germanic philology at the University of Heidelberg from 1888 . In 1904 he was elected a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , 1909 a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences , 1919 a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and 1922 a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences . He is considered an important representative of the young grammarians .
