Georg west
Georg Westen (born August 22, 1851 in Dresden , † November 29, 1921 in Godesberg ) was a German architect . He mainly worked in his place of residence, Bad Godesberg, which is now part of Bonn .
Life
West came from Dresden in what was then the Kingdom of Saxony . In 1884 he settled in the then independent municipality of Rüngsdorf as a master builder. 1889 moved west there with his family that built according to their own plans "Wettin" (Rüngsdorfer Road 28), named after the Saxon dynasty of Wettin . He received an important contract in 1892 with the new building of the Rheinhotel Dreesen instead of a previous summer restaurant, which was built in two construction phases in 1893 and 1900. He designed the mausoleums for the Finkelnburg / Wiedemann and Künne families in the castle cemetery . Georg Westen's company was last located at Rüngsdorfer Strasse 53/55. Around 1910/11, it was taken over by Willy Maß , who expanded it beyond the limits of a small business and advanced to a well-known architect in Godesberg.
Since February 24, 1904, Westen was a member of the Bonn Freemason Lodge Friedrich Wilhelm zum Iron Kreuz . His marriage to his wife (1844–1931) resulted in two daughters and their son Fritz (1885–1971), who became an engineer and, among other things, was the author of two articles in the Godesberg homeland sheets .
