Georg Ritter von Breunig

Georg Breunig , knight of Breunig since 1907 , (born August 1, 1855 in Dettelbach ; † January 6, 1933 in Munich ) was a Bavarian tax officer and politician. Among other things, he was Minister of State for Finance.

Life

Breunig studied law in Würzburg, Berlin and Leipzig. During his studies he became a member of the Academic Choral Society Würzburg in the Sondershäuser Association . After graduating, he entered the Bavarian civil service and worked for the governments in Augsburg and Würzburg. In 1903 he was Ministerialrat and Crown Prosecutor in the Ministry of Finance, in 1909 a State Councilor. From February 12, 1912 to November 8, 1918, he was Bavarian State Minister of Finance in the Hertling and Dandl cabinets , the last of the Kingdom of Bavaria . In 1913 he was involved in the implementation of the elevation of Prince Regent Ludwig to King Ludwig III. involved by Bavaria . In 1918 he achieved the establishment of the Reichsfinanzhof in Munich, where he served as Senate President from 1920 until his retirement in 1923.

In 1907, Breunig was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown by Prince Regent Luitpold . Associated with this was the elevation to the personal nobility and he was allowed to call himself Ritter von Breunig after his entry in the nobility register .
