Georg von Kries

Georg Joseph von Kries (born January 20, 1863 on Gut Smarzewo near Schmentau , Marienwerder district , West Prussia ; † October 21, 1922 on Gut Klein-Watzmirs near Swaroschin , Dirschau district , West Prussia) was a royal Prussian chief forester and politician.

family

He came from a Thuringian family, mentioned around 1600 in Lehesten , and was the son of the landowner Robert von Kries (1830-1904), landlord on Watzmirs, and his first wife Helene Baum (1834-1866).

Kries was his first marriage on August 31, 1897 in Goschin ( Neustadt district , West Prussia) Gertrud von Heyer (* May 1, 1870 in Goschin; † February 21, 1907 on Gut Klein-Watzmirs). In his second marriage, he married Gertrud Schlenther on November 29, 1909 in Dessau (* May 4, 1878 in Sønderborg ; † after 1941).

His cousin is the Prussian district administrator and politician Dr. jur. Wolfgang von Kries (1868–1945), another relative is his uncle Kurt von Kries (1848–1929), Prussian landscape councilor and also a member of the Prussian mansion.

Life

Georg von Kries was a landlord on Groß- and Klein-Watzmirs (1,141 hectares ), royal Prussian chief forester , legal knight of the Order of St. John and member of the Prussian manor house .

In addition, Kries worked as a poet and published some works, such as his poem Das Regiment Forcade (never defeated an enemy) in 1906 , which was set to music by Hans Hertel .

Since 1883 he was a member of the Corps Pomerania Greifswald .
