Georg von Rechenberg

Karl Friedrich Georg Freiherr von Rechenberg (born May 12, 1846 in Putbus , † June 8, 1920 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Georg was the son of Bernhard Gottlob Friedrich Freiherr von Rechenberg and his wife Charlotte Johanna, née von Münchow .

Rechenberg joined the Anhalt Fusilier Regiment in Dessau on April 1, 1866 , where he became an officer on November 14, 1867 . In the war against France , in which he was wounded near Toul , he acquired the Iron Cross . In May 1877 he was transferred to the General Staff as a captain , and in 1881 he joined the General Staff of the 8th Division in Erfurt . In 1891, as a lieutenant colonel , he became head of department in the general staff. In this capacity he became a colonel in June 1893 and major general in March 1897 . As such, Rechenberg was from April 1, 1898 to May 21, 1900 commander of the 21st Infantry Brigade in Schweidnitz . With promotion to Lieutenant General, he was then transferred to the General Staff and appointed senior quartermaster . This was followed by a job as director of the War Academy from June 16, 1900 . In this position, Rechenberg was also the President of the Study Commission of the War Academy and a member of the Supreme Military Study Commission. On August 20, 1902, in approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposal with the statutory pension and celebrated his 50th anniversary in the military on April 1, 1916.

Widowed, he married Hildegard Klara Elisabeth Countess von der Schulenburg at the end of the 19th century . The three children Fritz, Elisabeth and Hildegard emerged from the marriage. The latter was married to Joachim Sander, a colonel in the Wehrmacht and commander of the 31st Panzer Regiment.
