Georg von Rehekampff

Elmar Wilhelm Georg von Rehekampff (first name Georg; born June 29, 1869 in Karmel auf Ösel ; † January 22, 1941 in Arensburg ), since 1919 Lord of Arromois , was a German-Baltic aristocrat, Estonian politician , lawyer and lepidopterologist .

Life

Georg v. R. studied law at the University of Dorpat from 1887 to 1892 . Since 1889 he was a member of the Baltic Corporation Estonia Dorpat . From 1893 to 1894 he completed a supplementary course in agriculture at the University of Hohenheim near Stuttgart . He was the tenant of Ilpla , Lööne , Sassi and Jööri and the manager of the Helmersen manor on Ösel . From 1903 he was the lord of Parrasmetz and from 1905 he was the tenant of Parrasmetz. From 1903 he was a legal assessor of the Öselschen knighthood and from 1910 to 1913 chairman of the Verein zur Kunde Ösels . From 1912 to 1919 he was president of the aristocratic orphanage court, and in 1924 city councilor in Arensburg. During his life he put together an important collection of butterflies that lived on the island of Ösel.

Origin and family

Georg v. R. came from the German-Baltic noble family Rehekampff , who had lived on the Estonian island of Ösel since 1600. His father was the Oeselsche district administrator Karl Hans Alexander von Rehekampff (1846-1925), who was married to Emilie von Rennenkampff . His brother was the Baltic state politician Karl Axel Erwin von Rehekampff (1879–1953). Elmar married Helene von Ditmar , whose marriage was divorced in 1909, they had a daughter (Dorothea von Rehekampff, * 1898), who was naturalized in Germany in 1926 .
