Georg von Werthern (politician)
Count Georg d. J. Graf von Werthern (born June 8, 1700 in Regensburg , † December 16, 1768 in Eythra ) was a nobleman.
Life
Georg comes from the Großneuhausen line of the Thuringian noble family von Werthern and was the son of Georg the Elder. Ä. He married Jacobine Henriette Countess von Flemming (1709–1784) daughter of Major General Bogislaw Bodo von Flemming on May 12, 1724 in Dresden . He became Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Chamberlain in Dresden and later Privy Councilor in Weimar . As the doorkeeper of the Reichserbkammer he personally took part in the coronation of Emperor Charles VII by the Cologne Elector Clemens August in Frankfurt am Main in 1742 . When the emperor was received, the doorkeeper stood at the church door with the black staff.
Georg von Werthern caused a public stir, among other things, because in 1757 the high sum of 10,000 Reichstaler was stolen from his house in the Kreuzgasse in Dresden. The house was looted by Prussian troops.
