George Bugeja OFM (born July 1, 1962 in Xagħra , Gozo , Malta ) is a Roman Catholic religious and apostolic vicar of Tripoli .

Life

George Bugeja joined the Order of the Franciscans (OFM) and was ordained a priest on July 5, 1986 .

Pope Francis appointed him Titular Bishop of San Leone and Coadjutor of the Vicar Apostolic of Tripoli on July 10, 2015 . The bishop of Gozo , Mario Grech , donated him episcopal ordination on September 4th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai SDB , and the Bishop of Juticalpa , José Bonello OFM.

From February 14, 2016 to December 8, 2019, he was also Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Apostolic Vicariate of Benghazi .

With the resignation of Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli on February 5, 2017, he succeeded him as Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli.
